To Those of You With PCOS?

<< Which topic should i write my Ultrasound Vascular technology Paper on?  Could this be diabetes? >>

I just wanted to spread a little hope and cheer in here.

I am a fat, 36 year old, type 2 diabetic with PCOS who not only got pregnant once…. NATURALLY, but now twice! 4 days ago I found out I am pregnant again. I had a daughter at age 18 and right after that my health went to hell in a handbasket and I developed severe PCOS. I lost half of my hair, stopped having periods for years, obviously stopped ovulating, gained a lot of weight, grew a fricking beard and pretty much had your basic PCOS symptoms in their most severest form! I went on to become diabetic with blood sugars ranging in the 300’s!!!! FINALLY I had had enough and decided I would cut out all sugary drinks. I was a soda pop addict. Within a few months my periods resumed and I began ovulating. My blood sugars went within pretty much normal range and my blood tests showed tight control over my diabetes. A few months after that I was pregnant. I am sure most of you know that PCOS tends to run hand in hand with insulin resistance, so if you’re drinking ANY sugary soda, STOP! I know we all are different and what worked for me might not work for you, but the changes in my body were so dramatic from just stopping that one little thing that I feel I should go around now telling my story for any woman struggling with PCOS and infertility. I am now what I consider to be TOO dang fertile! I got pregnant this time around in a months time. All of this with no medical intervention. Just stopping the soda pop. As I said, this obviously won’t work for all women as some women with PCOS are very thin, but if you’re overweight like I am and struggle with insulin resistance, this might be worth a try. STOP THE POP! It might seem like common sense, but I never thought sugar would be THAT toxic to my body. Some of you might not realize how damaging refined sugar is to a woman who has PCOS…..

I wish all of you TTC all the best whether you have PCOS or not. I firmly believe I was about as sick with PCOS and diabetes as one could get and yet even I managed to turn it around and become pregnant. If you knew me you’d know that was incredible, so if there is hope for someone like me then there is hope for all of you!

Baby dust to all!

Well done. That is great news for you and for all with PCOS. I will stick to water now for the next few months and see if it helps me. Any little bit of advice is worth trying to anyone even without PCOS.

Thank you for posting this. I have a dear friend with PCOS, and am going to send her this link. I hope you don’t mind, but I think she would love to read it.

Thank you for posting this. I have been TTC for almost 5 years and my doc told me I had PCOS 2 years ago. However, I’m thin, don’t have excess body hair, etc. Basically, I’m pretty normal. I thought my doc was just telling me I had PCOS because she didn’t know what else to say. I am on Metformin because, as the doc said, "that’s just the next step." Whatever. But I will admit that I drink way too much soda and energy drinks. Maybe stopping it will tilt my body’s balance enough to allow me to conceive. Thanks for sharing. I will give it a try.
