Could this be diabetes?

<< To Those of You With PCOS?  My blood Glucose Level is 312mg/dl- it has gone from low 200's to this today alone:? >>

I was diagnosed as a "pre-diabetic" years ago, and thought I had this under control. My grandmother had Type II diabetes, so I know that it runs in my family. I was on metformin for a few years, but stopped for about a year (just thought I was fine without it). And now…I regret it.

I am experiencing symptoms like:

–Extreme Fatigue, especially after eating
–Dizziness (to the point where I dropped my daughter…thank god I was holding her over my bed and she just plopped onto the bed)
–VERY thirsty, all the time.
–Increased urination
–REALLY bad circulation to my feet…they are always cold…I’ve seen them tinted blue/purple when they are extremely cold
–A general not feeling well feeling (hard to describe, but I just feel like crap)
–I’ve noticed when I ingest a bunch of carbs that my vision is affected
–My memory is terrible lately
–Boils everywhere & blocked sweat glands in both armpits

My Dr thinks it is either Diabetes, Anemia (the fatigue) or Hypothyroidism.

She ordered the following tests:
–Comp. pannel
-CBC with diff.
–TSH

How likely is it that this is diabetes?

it sounds like diabetes. pretty much the symptoms I get when I have any carbs (im insulin dependent so ANY amount of carbs with no insulin has that effect)
see your doctor regularly and follow the advice closely. I dont know what those tests are though. When I had mine they gave me this nasty super sweet sugary carbonated grape flavor stuff to drink. then tested my sugar every half hour. man i’d rather have just been given a couple reese cups then drink that stuff lol I found out there is a such thing as TOOO sweet.

If your doctor hasn’t done a glucose tolerance test and H1C it is time to find a new doctor.

several of your symptons sound like it is diabetes
the tests the Dr. ordered will give him a better picture
seems like he needs to check your glucose tolerances, and your A1C levels…I too have diabetes, and diet is the key.
Good luck, take care of yourself

    Hello,

I would say it could very well be diabetes. When you were taking the pills , did things seem under control, not all the symptoms you mentioned above. Also, may I ask when you were taking the medicine did you have any symtoms such as going to the bathroom often, I am asking because I am taking this pill right now .

If diabetes runs in the family, you were diagnosed as "pre" diabetic a few years ago, and you are experiencing what you say, then I would say that your glucose levels should be in the neighborhood of 400 mg/dL and A1c of 13 or 14 or somewhere up there in the stratusphere of very rarified air.

Only airheads ignore the warnings you had some years ago. Then "pre" diabetes was diagnosed in anyone with glucose levels under 300!!!

Doctor is correct and incorrect. I think you may have all 3 problems the good doctor suggests.

Do you want to see your daughter graduate from high school? Do you want to dance at her wedding? Then I suggest you get your butt down to the doctor’s office for panel of blood testings and take whatever medications he recommends and do it yesterday!
